This month's featured review is from one of our Read It & Review volunteers, of the graphic novel Anya's Ghost: “Anya’s Ghost” is a graphic novel released in 2011 by Vera Brosgol. The book follows Anya, an insecure outsider. When she falls into a well one day after skipping school, Anya finds a new friend in a ghost named Emily. Despite her initial annoyance, Anya quickly learns the advantages of having a ghost friend around, and Emily finds her own gains in Anya’s situation. This story ties humor with thrill in a delightful way, and the twists in this story were very well done and shocking. The author makes it easy to find interest in each character, and their flaws feel very human. Anya is a very enjoyable protagonist, and I loved watching her character growth over the course of the story. Emily was also very interesting, her actions and words will have you on the edge of your seat! The art is simple and stylized, it compliments the story well. This book isn’t very lengthy, but the story will keep you hooked. I really enjoyed this book, people looking for a humorous spook will be in for a treat! 4/5 stars
